The first glass by Sosabravo gave the masters of Ars the chance to interpret one of the most important contemporary Cuban artists and to pay homage to Cuba, a lively, joyful, simple and complicated land.

For Sosabravo this is a true initiation: his first glass works, his complex and original drawings translated into a transparent and colourful matter, interpreted by the glass masters according to their emotions.
Translating one of Sosabravo's drawings into glass is not easy. Only the devotion and knowledge of the glassmaker can keep its essential features and make the artist immediately recognisable. (Marina Raffaeli)
Born in 1930 in Sagua La Grande, he studied at the San Alejandro Arts Academy but is mostly self-taught. Painter, engraver and ceramist, in 1976 he won the gold medal at the International Competition for Contemporary Artistic Ceramics in Faenza.
His work draws together nature, the human being and the machine. He received the Orden Félix Varela and the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas. His glass sculptures come from the collaboration with Ars Murano that began in 1998.
